Series Works – Paleo Rivers

Processes

Wet felting is the process of manipulating unspun wool fibres into a textile.  I creature raised surfaces using layers of other textiles and fibres to produce textures as the base of the object or hanging.  Then bead and stitch for additional layering and texturizing.

Materials

Merino wool, silk fabric, silk fibres & threads, papers & yarns, embroidery threads, Japanese glass beads

Size Portrait 600mm x 900mm or Landscape 900mm x 600mm

Enticed by the glint and sparkle of crystalline flecks surrounded by a sea of red.  The tangy smell that fluctuates between brine and brack.  Beneath your feet its crunch and crackle as a soft breeze washes your face leaving a thin salty film.  Your mind races on what was before.  Remnants of sprawling rivers and thriving wetlands from a time scale beyond comprehension.
